Really the only time of year to properly seed a lawn is in the fall. Where sod can be established almost any time of the year. Sod is less likely to be washed away and will be more likely to prevent erosion. Seeding, often washes away with excessive rain and we all know we see plenty of thunderstorms in Kansas. Although sod is more expensive, it offers many benefits that seed simply can‘t and by the time you seed, re-seed anything that has washed out and then overseeded the following year, you are often money ahead by going with sod in the long run.
